The love Blake Shelton has for ‘The Voice’ contestant Bryce Leatherwood: It’s all about the hometown support.
Blake Shelton was already a fan of Bryce Leatherwood, despite the fact that he did not win Season 22 of “The Voice.” The country coach, who campaigned to get the 22-year-old singer on his team, recently revealed that supporters were coming from Leatherwood’s own Ada, Oklahoma.
Shelton admitted that nobody cared about him, only about Leatherwood, and he was okay with it. This week, viewers had the option of choosing a song that would be performed by each participant. “Sand in My Boots,” a timeless country hit by Morgan Wallen, was chosen as the theme song for Leatherwood.
In the past, Leatherwood has performed classic country tunes including George Strait’s “Amarillo by Morning” and Conway Twitty’s “Goodbye Time.” However, his rendition of Wallen’s well-known song demonstrated his adaptability to contemporary country music.
A fresh appearance with his hair gelled back took the place of the contestant’s customary routine outfit of a cowboy hat and belt buckle. The fan-selected song was performed by Leatherwood to great effect using his deep baritone voice.
