The Friends star Matthew Perry was found deceased in his Pacific Palisades residence on Saturday. Reports state that the actor’s lifeless body was found in the hot tub by the police when they arrived.
He was fifty-four.
Authorities have provided further information about the catastrophe that shocked the entire globe and the millions of admirers that Perry made laugh with his iconic character as Chandler Bing, even if it will take some time to determine the exact cause of death.
Authorities stated that they received a medical call about 4 p.m. on Saturday from Perry’s oceanfront home, informing them that the actor was unconscious and in a hot tub. The caller’s identity is currently unknown.
“An adult male patient was deceased prior to first response arrival,” the LAFD said in a statement. “A bystander who had repositioned the victim where the head was out of water” found the patient in a freestanding hot tub.
“Firefighters pulled the victim out of the jacuzzi and did a quick medical assessment to find he was deceased,” the statement reads.
The ongoing inquiry to determine the cause of death is expected to take several months to conclude. The Los Angeles County coroner’s office will conduct toxicology testing even though no drugs of any kind were found at the scene.
The medical examiner completed the autopsy, however reports state that the cause of death was “deferred.”
Capt. Scot Williams, the lead officer of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery Homicide Division, said that although Perry’s cause of death may not be established for some time, foul play is not being suspected at this time.
It is unclear whether the deceased actor truly drowned, despite the fact that it has been made public that he was found dead in the hot tub.
