Tens of thousands of fans hoping to see Steven Tyler perform were let down this week as Aerosmith’s final tour dates for Peace Out: The Farewell Tour had to be postponed.
Steven Tyler, the lead singer for Aerosmith, wrote on Instagram that he has been instructed to stop singing for the next 30 days owing to severe vocal chord damage.
The venerable rock group notified fans that the shows originally slated for September 12 in Toronto, September 15 in Chicago, September 18 in Detroit, September 21 in Raleigh, and September 27 in Washington, D.C., had all been pushed back until early 2024.
The opening line of the statement is “To all our fans.”
I have to break the news to you that I have been severely advised medically not to sing for the next 30 days.I hurt my voice cords during the concert on Saturday, which led to more bleeding.
A few events will need to be rescheduled so that we can come back and give you the show you deserve.
Aerosmith added, “All already purchased tickets will be honored for the new dates. Refunds will be available to those who are unable to attend. Fans who have questions about refunds should get in touch with the store where they made the purchase.
Peace Out: The Farewell Tour, which would have 40 concerts, was set to go from September 2 (Philadelphia) to January 26 (Montreal) when it was first announced on May 1.
The postponements, however, will cause the trip to terminate at a later period. The most current sources state that The Aerosmith will resume performing on Monday, October 11.
It is commendable that the band members agreed to give their faithful fans one final tour given their ages. Tyler turned 75 in March, and it’s impossible to know what kind of physical damage a 40-show tour would have done to his body.
That being said, it’s not surprising that he wants to go above and above, especially in light of his history of selflessness.
In 2019, the frontman of Aerosmith donated $500,000 to renovate an ideal 82-acre structure outside Memphis to develop a shelter for children who have been abused or neglected.
The residence, known as “Janie’s House” in homage to Aerosmith’s 1989 hit song Janie’s Got a Gun, strives to provide a safe haven for women who have nowhere else to turn.
Let’s hope Steven Tyler can quickly get back up and perform again!
