After serving five months in prison, many people thought her popularity would decline, but it seems like she is making a comeback.
The birth of Martha Helen Kostyra occurred on August 3, 1941. In New Jersey, she came from a charming Polish-American family. She was taught a variety of talents, including cooking, sewing, canning, housekeeping, gardening, and other activities that her parents believed to be usual and in which they also participated.
As a young woman, she joined with Ford Models and made appearances in periodicals, TV shows, and commercials. She identified as “the all-American gal.”
Later, she attended Barnard College and worked as a stockbroker at a business where everyone was a man.
“I worked at an all-male company for nearly eight years while I was in that line of employment. At that time, there was just one woman who had a seat on the New York Stock Exchange. I’ve never felt frightened by males, so I don’t now.
remarked Martha Stewart. “However, males invited me inside their workplaces. We came to work in hot pants. I still have both my chocolate-brown and my light, peachy-pink ones. I wore them either barefoot, in high heels, or with tights. Elegant and insane all at once. Why, for instance, would you wear short shorts to work? But I didn’t give it a second thought. I received the utmost respect.
The decision to spend more time with her family, which included her only child, daughter Alexis, and her ex-husband Andrew Steward, came after Martha spent several years working as a stockbroker.
While Alexis was a student at Westport, Connecticut, Martha came up with the concept for starting an in-home catering business. Ten years later, she founded Martha Stewart Inc., which quickly grew to be a multimillion dollar business.
She and her spouse divorced in 1990, and she found it difficult to accept the end of their relationship.
She says, “Because we were the first in my family to divorce, being divorced was a dreadful thing for me. And it hurts even more that we haven’t spoken since the divorce.
In December 2001, Stewart saw a severe decline in circumstances. She decided to sell 4,000 shares in Samuel Waksal’s ImClone Systems, a biotech company. One day before facts connected to ImClone became public and sent stock prices tumbling, she made her decision. When she decided to sell stocks at the right time, rumors of insider trading began to circulate.
As a result of the rumors, she stepped down from her position as CEO of her company in 2003 so that she could focus on proving her innocence and repairing her company’s reputation.
She was given a five-month jail sentence and five-month house arrest in 2004. Only after her incarceration was she given a position in the company’s editorial department. She then resumed her television career after receiving permission to leave her home, assumed additional responsibilities at her organization, and in 2012 again attained the role of chairman.
Stewart is not only active on screen, but she also routinely shares photos of herself on social media, some of which, especially the most recent ones, her fans feel are unsuitable for someone her age.
When questioned by the host of The Drew Barrymore Show how she gained the confidence to only take selfies while donning an apron, Stewart was very candid about her use of social media. “I practiced the day before to see if I looked OK…and I looked good, so,” Stewart said in response.
“I do take very, very good care of myself,” Stewart said earlier this year when asked about her health. I eat very healthily and have frequent checkups that are scheduled at least six months in advance. I don’t eat a lot of meat, but I do consume a lot of nice seafood. I consume excellent vegetables that I raise myself as well as delectable eggs that I receive directly from my chicken coop. I believe that living on a farm is one of the healthiest lifestyles out there since I have access to fresh air when I wake up in the morning.
It actually helps to maintain healthy skin, nice hair, and strong bones, Stewart continued, “I can plant some flowers or pick some vegetables and make a green juice that is utterly delicious.”
At age 81, Martha Stewart looks incredible and resists aging.
